<reviewbody>You just had Richard Wagner's 'Ride Of The Valkyries' and your imagination, and this rendition of it, keep in mind that this is 1921, and this is, well, OLD, but this is a STUNNING rendition of this chestnut. The trumpet used here is just amazing, and fills the song with serious mood. I am not really the classical music nut, so to say that I was impressed with this one must mean something,</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>More like just dissonance, in fact.... this hurts my ear...

I am pretty sure the reviewer before me was impressed by the song itself, not this particular horrendous rendition....what makes a good music good is the fact that it still manages to radiate albeit effetely even through a earsore rendition like this one...</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Oh, yes, I've heard better renditions. But the person saying this is just dissonant must not be hearing what I am. I do have Altec Lansing speakers, but considering the recording's from 1921, that can't be all it is.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>For what must be an acoustic recording (no microphones, just straight into the recording horn) this is probably about as good as it gets, and a pretty good performance technically.

But completely lacking in the real tone of the basses and trombones that make this piece so special.

I wonder about the "American Symphony Orchestra". The current organization with that name was only founded in 1962.

It seems the labels on the Edison discs do identify such a thing, but I can't find any history of it.
